Check With Your State Board or Certifying Body

Acceptance of ABET's professional development hours is at the discretion of individual licensing, credentialing or certifying body. Some states and certifying bodies require pre-approval of professional development hours. Documentation requirements also vary.

For Professional Engineers, The National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) maintains a state-by-state list of continuing professional development requirements as well as links to the state boards for further information.

Please note that individuals are responsible for maintaining their own professional development hours documentation. ABET will, if requested, issue a certificate of completion immediately upon attendance at any of the eligible workshops, training, or symposia. Please contact the ABET Professional Services Department for more information.
